Pilar Gutierrez leads the strategy behind many of Solidigm’s most visible industry, customer, partner, and executive engagements — aligning every experience with business priorities and brand leadership. She translates complex storage technology and corporate vision into live experiences that influence decision-makers, strengthen market perception, and drive measurable impact.

Pilar is willing to push boundaries, noting “We’re a young company. We’re innovative. We’re leaders in our industry. So why wouldn’t our events feel just as forward-thinking and dynamic?”

For example, when she first pitched a honky-tonk-inspired theme for Great America, complete with hats, BBQ, and trucks, it wasn’t an easy sell, but she had a clear vision and the discipline to execute it at a high level. That concept evolved into the Renegade BBQ, one of Solidigm’s most talked-about and successful experiences.

“Events are humbling. It’s important to remember that you are not the guest — you are responsible for the experience. It’s easy to get caught up in the energy, the atmosphere, the celebration,” says Pilar.

But your role is to ensure everyone else has that moment. Your job is to create an experience that lives on in people’s minds long after the event is over — even if you’re standing behind the scenes, which, in my opinion, is the best place to be.”

Pilar’s strength is striking a balance between creativity and accountability. She challenges conventional thinking but pairs it with rigorous production planning, strong partner management, and ownership. If something falls short, she owns it, because she believes accountability is the first step to credibility.

Her leadership philosophy is grounded in collaboration. “Events are communal,” she says. She credits her partnership with Karen Yorn and a highly creative team that turns ideas into reality. For Pilar, great collaboration is all about attitude. She would rather hire someone eager to learn — who listens well and supports the team — than a technically strong contributor who undermines morale.

In a tech industry still largely dominated by men, Pilar is clear-eyed about the challenges women, particularly women without engineering backgrounds, face in being taken seriously. She believes women must share knowledge, mentor one another, and create visible career paths where none previously existed.

When Pilar began her career, events were rarely viewed as a formal strategic function. She has since been the first event lead hire at three companies, building the discipline from the ground up.

Pilar shares that as a woman of color, she takes pride in earning her place through persistence, discipline, and mastery of her craft. She cites Dave Grohl’s advice, which has stayed with her since she first heard it: “Learn your instruments.”

Pilar’s father and his side of the family are second generation San Franciscans.

A Bay Area native and aficionado, Pilar loves listening to the SF Giants on KNBR from the comfort of Guerra’s Italian Market, especially when Jon Miller calls a game.

In both her personal and professional life, Pilar is committed to advocacy and sustainability. She supports farmworker communities in Half Moon Bay, focusing on food insecurity, education, and financial literacy. She also deeply values water conservation. You will never see her order bottled water, even at corporate events.
